Social networking

Some ways that corporations use social networking is to promote their products or services. For example, there are a lot of "start up" shops like FashionNova who want to promote their clothes through the use of social media and social media influencers. According to "The Pros and Cons of Social Media"by LifeWire, business owners and entrepreneurs can connect with current and potential customers.
On the more professional and business side, finance and accounting firms usually release articles and memos about the economy, the markets, and/or new tax laws so that potential clients can hire them.  The benefits of social media is to reach as many people as possible and maximize the outreach to potential customers/clients.
For individuals, their friends can stay up to date with their life and whatever they choose to share. Anyone can share anything on the internet from anywhere on the world, it is real time communication, and have real time news! You no longer have to actually go on news channels to learn about what is happening around the world.
I think that there is a dark side because social media can be a loss of privacy for individuals. Whatever you search and put up on the internet gets saved. This means that if you google a certain handbag, it might pop up on your Facebook which can be a little creepy. Everything you put up on the internet also gets saved to the internet, even if you delete it which can be harmful to people's reputations. On top of this, social media and the internet is also addicting which can cause health issues. According to CarrierClinic's "The Good, The Bad, and the In-Between of Social Media", social media causes psychology disorders.
